JuRistimine

JuRistimine (translated as Lawyers' Baptism) is a swearing-in-ceremony for first-year law students of the University of Tartu, organised and run by the Estonian Law Students' Union.

Traditionally the event takes place in the building of the Estonian Students' Society, which each year on the night of JuRistimine hosts over 200 law students and faculty members. Some of the highlights of JuRistimine are the oath-taking of the first-year students, which is led by the Director of the Faculty of Law, Dr. iur. Gaabriel Tavits, the entertainment programme steered by the hosts, the speech given by a Justice of the Supreme Court and of course the late-night dance marathon.
